Lomonosov USSR Panda bear

Lomonosov USSR Panda bear5 inches high

Here we have another Russian animal from the Lomonosov factory. Quite a common one but, hey wait, he's warming his little toes in front of the fire... Don't leave me just yet, bear with me.

Ahem, these Russian animals are quite collectable where I come from (North East of England).

The ones marked with the MADE IN USSR stamp are the older one's. The newer one's have the MADE IN RUSSIA stamp.

The animal are frequently seen everywhere you go, mostly 50p as most people don't realise they're collectable.

The backstamp usually rubs off when cleaned, this lowers the price a little so don't clean the base. About half of these USSR animals that I come by have no backstamp or very little left.

Take a closer look at the way these animals are decorated, the graduation of colour, the glaze, etc. It becomes second nature to identify an animal without the backstamp.

Size is important, the smaller one's generally make around £3-5. The ones around this size (5 inches high) make around £8-10.

I wouldn't sell these animals on the internet myself as the prices are cheap, postage costs have to be paid, and there is more demand for these in my area.

Rarities exist, there's a Himalayan bear in one of the Millers books. I've seen that one sell for £40 (locally), it had the USSR stamp. There are two sizes in that book so watch outClick Me!
