5½ Inches Wide
The title may suggest that I know what I'm talking about for once in my life, but taking my brain into consideration, probably not! I never claim to know everything, or indeed, anything.
Life isn't for claiming, it's for aiming. Just don't aim it at me.
Anyway, I think this could be what you call a German porcelain 'bough pot' for holding flowers. I'm not 100% certain on that though.
The stamp, gulp, dates it to 1837 to 1844. Unfortunately, it's damaged, there are two cracks on the lid and the lid itself is a bit wonky. What do you call a three legged donkey? A wonky!
I always say: 'If it is, what it is, then I'm sure it will sell for what it's worth, the way it is'.
KPM is still going today, I believe, with a similar porcelain mark. The initials stand for: 'Konigliche Porzellan Manufaktur' which is located in Prussia, Germany. It was also known as the 'Staatliche Porzellan Manufaktur'.
There are many marks, including the orb mark, like the one shown in the photo above. Some with the initials of the firm and some with the name in full. Just to confuse matters even further, the KPM initials were also used by other companies.
Sorry, the donkey joke was unforgivable.
